Dr. Melinda Spooner


Dr. Spooner was born in Chicago, Illinois. She received her B.S. in Zoology from the University of Oklahoma and attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Medicine. After graduation from medical school, she completed her residency training at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Parkland Health and Hospital System.

During medical school, Dr. Spooner became interested in women’s health while working with the National Health Services Corps and assisting with the development of the rural clinic’s prenatal education program. Dr. Spooner completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Health and Hospital Centers where she was awarded for outstanding achievement in colposcopy by the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

Dr. Spooner has lived in Plano since 1998, and has been a featured speaker for the Women’s Services department at the Medical Center of Plano. Dr. Spooner is the proud mother of a beautiful and precocious daughter. Dr. Spooner is board certified and a fellow member of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
